Thanks for the kind words, fd, and also for stressing the moral complexity and interpretive depth of Kaldor City. You're absolutely correct, of course, as I'm rediscovering for myself as I give the series yet another go around. This is a series that demands and rewards intellectual engagement.

I'm not quite ready to announce what form the next Kaldor City discussion will take on this website, but it will be aimed at veterans of the series rather than newcomers. Your enjoyment of it will depend on whether you find authorial commentary broadens or confines personal interpretation. I find it enriches but does not determine my experience. But my job will be to present you and other readers with that choice, not to make it for you. Those afraid of having the series overdetermined for them are advised to stay away.

I hope you'll stick around for it (and be patient - this is weeks, maybe even a month away before it kicks off), and look forward to reading your responses in the future.

A very informative interview, giving an insight into the authors writing process and the attention to detail required in crafting the KC series.

Conventional story telling, conditions the listener/reader to compartmentalize characters into being ?good? and ?bad?. The motivations and actions in the KC series can be interpreted in so many ways that even now, I will have to re-listen to the plays given the above information, and hear if the new ?facts? fit.

Being open to interpretation also means that there is no ?right? answer. I think this goes part way to explaining my enjoyment of the series and the ability to re-listen to the cd?s time and again, the meaning and the journey always change.

I look forward to the previously mentioned KC article.
