It would be interesting if his German-invented American investigator was an homage of sorts to an Australian-invented American investigator.

You have to love a title like &quot;I Hate Crime!&quot;  It doesn&#039;t get more pulpy than that!</description>

He had his own radio drama (&quot;I Hate Crime!&quot;) as well as a long-running series of paperbacks.  Although made in Australia, it was about a tough American private eye.    I used to listen to him when I was at school.</description>
