Episode 198 – Prepare to Be “Starstruck”

Starstruck Audio Drama Sci Fi AdventureWell, listeners, we’ve mopped up the buckets of blood spilled throughout the month of October and prepare now for an intergalactic adventure aboard the Harpy with Capt. Galatia 9 and her loyal contingent of do-gooders.

The show is the exciting new audio dramatization of Starstruck, an off-Broadway stage show and comic book that is the dysfigured hilarious child of Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy and the Rocky Horror Picture Show.

In this mega-episode we feature substantive tastes of the show and interviews with the creators. We’ve also uploaded some videos on YouTube so you can see just how fun it is to record a show like this:

This show is available as an MP3 download on ZBS as well as on the AudioComics Company’s own website. You can also order CDs with really sharp artwork by Michael Kaluto.

And, without further ado, the show must go on…

Radio Drama Revival – Episode 198

Episode 144: People From Away Get Lost on “The Nephews” and the Vault Keeper Makes an Appearance

Rocky Coast Radio Theater Horror StoryThis week we welcome the audio mastery of Bill Dufris and his Mind’s Eye Productions back to the show. We’ve heard him previously with his story “The Derelict” and the year before on our Halloween Special with the Lovecraft tale, “The Statement of Randolph Carter.”

Today we have two new tales that are new to the podcast world.  ”The Nephews” is a new adaptation of a story by Rick Hautala, telling about a group of sea salts in coastal Maine who get mighty curious about the fate of a man from away who goes to investigate a derelict light house.

In “Hollywood Ending,” we welcome The Vaultkeeper, a sinister and ghoulish narrator for a tale of love that doesn’t go as plan… This is ghoulishly good, listen on!

Radio Drama Revival! Halloween Special 2007

Episode 38: Maine-based William Dufris Does William Hope Hodgson’s ‘The Derelict’

Donate to WMPG to support Radio Drama Revival! As a prelude to today’s episode, the beginning of a frightful month of audio horror stories here on the show, I’ve got to note that this week marks the middle of the “Begathon” pledge drive at WMPG, the station which generally gives air time, studio space, and access to a great audio-savvy volunteer army, making everything I do here on the show (and much of what I do with FinalRune) possible.

If you’re a regular listener, a fan of audio drama, or just generally philanthropic and see a need for more diversity in our media choices, please donate to WMPG to directly support a great local radio station and show that there’s support for offbeat programming like Radio Drama Revival. Now, the episode — This is the premiere broadcast of a new work by Mind’s Eye Productions, an excellent audio theater operation run locally by the celebrated audiobook narrator William Dufris.

Dufris lends his amazing talent to his audio theater work and pairs it with excellent sound effects and eerie music, resulting in stories that will leave you unable to get out of bed for a while. Today’s story is a thrilling adaptation of William Hope Hodgson’s “The Derelict,” about a crew of sailors that finds a strange boat adrift in the endless ocean, and discovers all too gruesomely the reason for its abadonment.

Enjoy!
